Introducing Jonathan York
Hi I'm Jonathan York
Originally from the UK, I moved to New Zealand in October 2000 with my lovely wife Melanie. We have two great kids, Jordan aged nine, and Emillie aged six. I am actively involved in their sporting endeavors.
I coach junior soccer 9th grade at the Mount. I am also involved with the Omanu Surf Club, obtaining the first two levels of coaching qualifications - introduction to junior surf and developing surf coach. I am the current Director of Junior Surf at Omanu - the largest Junior surf club in New Zealand.
I enjoy Golf , playing regularly at Omanu Golf Club. I also enjoy biking with the family and hanging out at the beach - and there are some great beaches here in the Bay.
I have over 30 years experience working in the financial markets. I started in the City of London in September 1985. I became a qualified trader on the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE), then qualified to trade in the Global securities markets, for both the Bank and clients, trading bonds, shares, currencies and commodities. I lectured on LIFFE's training programme for Option Trading and Pricing and also wrote several papers for their quarterly news publication.
I have worked extensively with the Reuters news agency reporting on the financial markets and giving regular interviews on Reuters Financial TV. I am regular contributor in the Financial presses, with a vast experience and knowledge of the financial markets and how they work.
Qualifications: I hold a Graduate Diploma of Business Studies in Personal Financial Planning, a BA Hons Accounting degree from the University of North London.
I am a member of the Society of Independent Financial Planners (SIFA). I am a Registered and Authorised Financial Adviser (Registered Financial Services Provider no. SP42942).
